TGIF {25} Literary Vacations

TGIF is a weekly meme hosted by Ginger at GReads. Each week she poses a question and everyone is invited to join in and share their answers :]

This week's question
Literary Vacations: If you could take a trip this summer to any place within a fictional book, where would you go? Tell us about your summer dream vacation!

You normally wouldn't want to live in any sort of dystopian world, but I recently read The Unwanteds by Lisa McMann and I have to say that I'd really love to live in Artime. Though I've never felt I have a creative bone in my body, maybe being in a place like that would help bring it out in me. It's beautiful and vibrant and has such animals as squirellicorns and platyparrots.

Plus, there's magic AND technology. Let's start with the magic. The magic in Artime goes along with whatever your creative talent is. Writers can quote passages that stun people and artists can paint themselves invisible among  many other things. How seriously cool is that?! Then there's the technology. There are tubes that transport you places and blackboards that not only tell whatever you wish to know, but have their own personalities!

I would be in my own little paradise at this place. I could have everything from the great outdoors complete with an ocean, a jungle, and fantastical creatures to magical talents to top of the line technology. Yes please :D

Ditched: A Love Story by Robin Mellom {Review}

Publisher: Disney-Hyperion
Publish Date: January 10, 2012
Source: Library
Goodreads
High school senior Justina Griffith was never the girl who dreamed of going to prom. Designer dresses and strappy heel? Not her thing. So she never expected her best friend, Ian Clark, to ask her. Ian, who promised her the most amazing night and prom. And then ditched her.

Let’s start with characters. Justina was your typical, high school girl overthinking everything and jumping to conclusions, but she was also one determined girl. I mean, if I had a night like her, I would have been on the ground somewhere just bawling my eyes out, defeated. Justina wasn’t like that, though. Yeah, she cried a few times, but then she got back up and continued on her way.
The Mikes deserve a little highlight because I think them along with Serenity and Bliss were my favorite characters. Sure, they’re stoners, but they’re sweet, thoughtful stoners :]

Now let’s go over the story. Yeah, it was crazy and zany, but it still managed to be believable. I loved that it was kind of a mystery that we got to discover and puzzle through along the way. I also really liked that because of the mystery I could go from liking a character to hating them to love them throughout the course of the story.

I loved how the stains on the dress incorporated into the story and I especially loved that there was a picture of something before each chapter that went along with that part of the night. Like a picture of the dress where curry was splattered on it. And the chapters without a dress picture had junk food titles which I found funny. I was desperately wanting nachos by the time I finished :P

The Nutshell: Ditched: A Love Story was a super cute, fun read. It was crazy, but in the best way possible. Justina is a character that really earned my respect with her determination, even if she made some bad decisions and assumptions. Chances are your prom was nothing like this, but you’ll definitely want to read about it!

RAK Wrap-up March&April

I keep forgetting to do RAK wrap-ups so I figured I'd just get this one written for the past two months while I was thinking about it :P If you have any questions or are wondering what in the world RAK is, head on over to Book Soulmates. There's a link at the bottom of my blog :]

March:
I didn't get any RAK my first month doing it, but I did send The Way We Fall by Megan Crewe to Zoey's Uncreatively Titled Book Blog along with a chocolate bar :]

April:
I received a hardcover copy of Looking For Alaska by John Green from @Luvdaylilies.
I sent out Incarnate by Jodi Meadows to Bookaholics Anonymous.

Random Questions {2}

I totally forgot to make a post today, so here are some random questions instead!

6. Do you have an e-reader?
I have a second gen Kindle that I rarely use and I'm currently waiting on a Nook Tablet to make its way to my day. I have a feeling I'll use that one a lot more, but probably not for reading :P It's much easier for me to remember to read a book when it's staring at me in physical form.

7. Do you prefer to read one book at a time, or several at once?
I prefer to read one, but if I have to read a book that’s not by choice then I’ll usually read that at the same time as a Fun Book.

Kind of what my TBR looks like.
8. Have your reading habits changed since starting a blog?
I read a lot more now and have a MUCH longer TBR. Plus, I used to let a book simmer for a day or two but now as soon as i have a review written, I'll move on to the next book.

9. Least favorite book you read this year (so far)?
Ghostgirl and Psych Major Syndrome weren’t favorites.

Great book!
10. Favorite book you’ve read this year?
That’s a toughie. Born Wicked by Jessica Spotswood was really good as was Bittersweet by Sarah Ockler. So was The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight, The Probability of Miracles, The Unwateds, and Cinder. I'm telling you, there are lots!

Tune in Tuesday {20}

Tune in Tuesday is hosted by the awesome Ginger at Greads.

For the month of May Tune in Tuesday is doing it random style. I'm just going to open up my iTunes this month and pick five random songs. I won't include any holiday music since it May, though. This could be interesting...

MusicPlaylistView Profile

The website doesn't seem to like doing things cohesively, so here are the songs in the way they appear:
Inseparable - Jonas Brothers
There Was Another Time in My Life - Relient K
Gives You Hell - All American Rejects
I Am One of Them - Aly & Aj
Ramblings of a Beggar - Shawn McDonald

I told you it was going to be interesting :P Yes, I was once obsessed with the Jonas Brothers and I can't quite bring myself to completely delete them on my iTunes.
I kind of love Relient K. I have all but the last album on my iTunes, so don't be surprised if they come up more during this month.
What can I say? It's a catchy song and super fun to scream along to.
I honestly can't even think of what this song is. I have an Aly & Aj album but I never really listen to it. Yes, I have problems with permanently deleting things.
I can't recall this song either. I like Shawn McDonald, but this isn't one of my favorite albums.
