Know Me Better #11

While doing the Book Blogger Love-A-Thon I came across I Am a Reader Not a Writer's Know Me Better feature through someone's blog and thought "perfect!" So, here we are with me sharing more little tidbits about myself (I know, you all find me fascinating.) I'm just going to start with the first post she did and work my way up from there. Sound good?

Favorite restaurant?
It really depends on what kind of food I'm feeling, but one of my favorites is the all-vegetarian Chinese restaurant here in Seattle.

What is your view on self publishing?
I can't fault a person for being ambitious, but, and I'm not trying to be mean here, I won't read it. I'm sure there are a lot of good books out there, but you have to wade through a lot more bad to find them. Plus, I already have an ever-growing TBR that's most likely longer than my lifespan.

How do you feel about banned books? Do you have a favorite?
I feel that we should trust our youth to know what they want to read, so I'm against the whole banning books thing. I haven't actually read that many banned books, actually, so I don't have a favorite.

Are you for or against books being made into movies?
Nope. Sure, they aren't all masterpieces, but it's still fun to see a book I've read come to life.

Top 3 things on your bucket list?
I know I'm strange, but I don't really have a bucket list. There are a few places I want to visit and see, but I don't want jump out of a plane or anything.

Do you like the spotlight or lurking in the shadows?
I don't lurk, but I certainly don't like the spotlight.

How many books are in your TRB pile?
Hah. You make me laugh.
Officially, there are 837 books on my Goodreads TBR at the moment.

What is next on your to read list?
Eleanor & Park. By the time this posts, though, it'll be something different.

What one item would you eat for the rest of your life?
Gravy.

What is the last thing you bought?
A subscription to Bon Appetit

Pet Peeves?
Tourists. It's the the people themselves, it's the sheer number of them and their infuriating way of clogging up the sidewalks while walking at the pace of a turtle.

Give us a glimpse into a typical day in your day starting when you wake up till you lie down again.
I only work two days a week, so most days I don't really have anything to do. I wake up at 9, turn my alarm off, get back in bed, and sleep for another hour or so. Then I get up, go to the living room, get on my computer and proceed to waste about 2 hours.
Eventually I need to take Pugsy out before she leaks on the floor. At this point I'm starting to get a little disappointed in myself for not having done anything so I resolve to do something after "just a few minutes" more on the internet. Hah.
Then Jacob comes home around 3 in the afternoon and we talk and watch tv.
More internet.
Somewhere in there we eat food.
Then he goes to bed and I spend another few hours reading/internetting/watching tv.
Finally, I get in bed at 2, if I haven't already, read until 3/I fall asleep.

Yes, it's all really rather sad.

Pizza or Pasta?
Depends n the day. Today I'd go with pasta.

Finish the sentence- one book I wish I had written is….
None. I prefer to be the reader.

Favorite sport?
I hate sports.

If someone wrote a book about your life, what would the title be?
I honestly have no idea.

If you could have a signed copy of any novel what would it be and why?
Probably a signed copy of the first Percy Jackson book because it's one of my all-time favorite series'.

Horror or Romance?
Horror.

If you could choose only one time period and place to live, when and where would you live and why?
Either now or the future because I like the technology that exists now.

Do you prefer a bunch of small gifts or one big expensive one?
Oooh, tough question. I'd love to get a Macbook, but generally I prefer a bunch of smaller gifts.

What is something people would be surprised to know about you?
I like girly clothes: dresses, skirts, high heels, lacy stuff, and the like. You'd never guess it from looking at me, though since I only ever wear jeans and tshirts :P

Beach or Pool?
Pool. I enjoy my toes in the sand as much as the next person, but I have an irrational fear of water I can't see to the bottom of, especially the ocean. Scary things live in there.

If you had 24 hours alone how would you spend it?
Reading, eating, and video games, most likely.

Coke or Pepsi?
I try to drink more natural sodas, but if these were put in front of me, I'd choose Coke.

If a movie was made about your life, who would you want to play the lead role and why?
Chloe Grace Moretz because she's blond and one of my favorite actresses :P

If you were stranded on a desert island what 3 things would you want with you?
Sunblock, matches, and a pot.

What is one book everyone should read?
Everyone has different tastes so there isn't one certain book I'd suggest to everyone.

If you could have any superpower what would you choose?
Invisibility and talking to animals (The Wild Thornberrys anyone?)

Harry Potter or Twilight?
Harry Potter.

Gum or Breath Mints?
Gum, even if it makes my teeth hurt (a side effect of having way too many cavities.)

What’s your favorite season/weather?
Winter is officially my favorite season, but I enjoy the sun as long as it stays 80 and under.

PC or Mac?
I'd rather have a Mac, but I've only ever been able to afford PCs :P

Favorite music?
It varies. Sometimes I listen to pop, sometimes classical, sometimes indie.

Facebook or Twitter?
Twitter.

What TV show/movie/book do you watch/read that you’d be embarrassed to admit?
I'm not really embarrassed by my entertainment choices. The closest I come to that is 90210 because it kind of is a terrible show :P

March update: Sun!

This month as described by My Little Pony:
For once, it's actually becoming spring in western Washington. In March. I'm a winter girl, but I love me some 70 degree sun.

Some Happenigs:
- Met Erika
Erika of Rescue Reads and her family were visiting Seattle, so I got to hang out with her for a couple hours. Yay for meeting bloggers IRL!
- I eat oatmeal now
Here's the deal: I've always hated oatmeal. Occasionally I'd get a craving for it so I'd make some, eat two bites, then give it to someone else because it turned out, yes, I did still hate oatmeal. This month, though, we had a crap-ton of it around the house, so I decided "it's healthy, so what the hey." And I didn't hate it! (Yes, this counts as an event in my month.)

Still working on this one.
-Acquired 2 new bookshelves
When we moved in I had one rinky dink bookshelf. It filled up quickly. Then I got a bigger one and somehow managed to fill #1 up with so much crap there wasn't any room for books anymore so bookshelf #2 filled quickly. I even stacked extra books all the way to the ceiling from the top of #2. So, as you ca see, new bookshelves were necessary. Sadly, I now have no more room for bookshelves.

- Dark Days stop
There isn't enough room to
take proper pictures.

Sadly, I didn't get any pictures (there were a lot of people,) but I had a really good time. Claudia Gray, Debra Driza, Dan Wells, Kiersten White, and Lauren Oliver were all in attendance, and I'm not going to lie, they were all kind of hilarious.

- Decided to start taking care of my skin.
Which basically means that I spent about $100 on products in one day.

- Had an interview, didn't get it
And in disappointing news, I had an interview with Seattle's biggest indie and didn't get it. Still, I'm happy to have gotten an interview at such a great place.

Some current favorites:
Music: I was on a Youtube kick this month, so we have:

Show(s): The anime of the month was Aquarion. Basically, it's about a futuristic world ruled by winged creatures and the teens who use mecha to defeat them and take back the Earth. It's not the best thing ever, but I did get really invested in the characters and their relationships.
90210. Sort of. Kind of. I decided to watch the 2 1/2 seasons I've missed, but I found myself really frustrated with the stupidity of the characters. Yet, I couldn't stop watching partly because it's hard to stop and partly because I feel obligated to finish since it ends this year.

Movie: The Legend of the Guardians

Book(s): Also Known As by Robin Benway, The Fellowship for Alien Detection by Kevin Emerson, and The Fault in Our Stars by John Green

If you could meet one person who has died who would you choose?
I guess I don't really have one. I suck at meeting people. I'm all awkward and I get super anxious.

Chocolate or Vanilla?
It depends, I suppose. But if we're going chocolate then it has to be dark and if it's vanilla then I'd prefer vanilla bean.

What do you do in your free time?
Read, binge watch tv shows and anime, and. . . I don't even know. The internet eats all my time.

What movie are you looking forward to this year?
Now You See It (I believe that's the title). Jesse Eisenberg and magic all in one movie? Yes, I am so there. Also, the second Percy Jackson movie. I'm aware the first one kind of sucked, but I can't say no to Percy Jackson and Logan Lerman.

Spontaneity or Planning Ahead?
I cannot stress this enough: Planning ahead.

If you could travel in a Time Machine would you go back to the past or into the future?
Future! I don't think I'd want to stay there or anything, but I'd love to see what kind of technology and advancements we've made. Oh, also, it's not called a Time Machine, it's a TARDIS ;]

Nickname?
Jazz.

What was your favorite children's book?
The Phantom Tollbooth

If you were a super hero what would your kryptonite be?
Onions. Or spiders.
Don't laugh at me :P

Hot or Cold?
Cold?

Friends, I have a confession

I am a terrible library patron.
There, I said it.

Now, don't get me wrong, I love my library. See, I even got one of the new cards that just came out this year:

I'm not on the blacklist or anything, but I have a terrible habit of collecting fines. I'm not just talking 50 cents or a couple bucks either. I currently have about $12 in fines and I just paid $4 towards it less than 2 weeks ago!

At my library, once you have $15 in fines you can no longer check anything out. Before I paid that $4 bucks towards it? Yeah, I had $14.25. I know, I know.
Rainbow Dash is disappointed in me.

The problem is that I check out all these books (I usually have around 25-30 out at one time) and then I have to read review books or want to read a book off my shelf or what have you and they just collect dust on my bookshelf. BUT, I still want to read them. So, I keep them :P

Also, I'm not going to lie, sometimes I'm just too lazy to take the 30 minute walk to the library to drop stuff off...

The funny thing is, I usually do read a good chunk of them. The 25 cents a day fine can really add up, though.

But I'm supporting the library, right? Right?

What about you guys? Do you use your library much? Do you rack up fines or do you always return on time?

And here's something completely unrelated just because.
(Also, I don't even have a tumblr but it ate me while I was looking for other images for this post.)
I find this amusing.
(I got it from tumblr and I don't entirely know how
to source it, sorry.)

When you were little, what did you want to be when you "grew up"?
The most notable ones I remember are a mail lady, a zoo keeper, and a librarian.

Black or White?
Black

Favorite Food?
Probably mashed potatoes, gravy, and vegetarian meatballs. Especially if they're my mother-in-law's.

You have won one million dollars what is the first thing that you would buy?
Oooh, tough call. Probably a really nice computer. Then a house.

Print or Ebook?
Print, fo sho.

Know Me Better #1

While doing the Book Bloger Love-A-Thon I came across I Am a Reader Not a Writer's Know Me Better feature through someone's blog and thought perfect! So, here we are with me sharing more little tidbits about myself (I know, you all find me fascinating.) I'm just going to start with the first post she did and work my way up from there. What is your favorite flavor of ice cream?
I don't eat a lot of ice cream, but when I do I default to simpler things like chocolate chip or coffee.

What is your favorite thing to eat for breakfast?
I'm not really a fan of breakfast. I like breakfast foods, I just don't particularly like eating that early. But, if I WAS having breakfast then I'd prefer it to be veg biscuits and gravy with some scrambled eggs.

Night owl, or early bird?
Ha. This isn't even a question.
Always and forever a night owl, though I'm getting better at mornings. Better, being a loose term...

One food you would never eat?
There's plenty of disgusting sounding foods (blood sausage is literally made out of blood), but I like to think I have an open mind about trying new things for the most part.
If you were looking for a more straightforward answer then it'd be meat since I'm vegetarian.

Skittles or M&Ms?
I've never really been a fan of M&Ms, but Skittles make my teeth hurt (hello, 10+ cavities!) so I'd just play it safe with the M&Ms. Anything but plain milk, though.

February update: And Chuck makes 4!

The month as described by My Little Pony:
Source
For some reason February felt crazy even though nothing really happened.

Some Happenings:

- Scarlet launch party
I got the chance to go to the Marissa Meyer's launch party for Scarlet (first launch party ever!) and it was interesting... Nothing was bad about the launch itself, but I had to take a two hour bus ride (and the bus was late). I finally got there about 10 minutes late, listenend to Marissa talk for a while and read from Scarlet, then it was time to wait to get my book signed. For a long time. So long, in fact, that I still hadn't gotten my book signed and was less than 10 minutes from missing the last bus home. Luckily, Marissa's husband was nice enough to give me a ride to the bus stop with more busses (oes that make sense?) Sorry I don't have any pictures Still working on that.

- Visited home
Which by the way, is a really small town (our school is pre-k - 12) two hours from where I currently live. It's the first time we visited since...last October, maybe? Jacob had a three-day weekend so we had time enough to visit both families as well as some good friends.
Chuck Taylor watching the candle

- Got a cat
While we were visiting home we got a cat. There's a whole post about it if you wish to know more.

- My brother visited
My younger brother visited and we basically sat around did nothing which is what we do every time he comes up :P Usually he picks a game to beat while he's up and he was this close to beating Minish Cap. He was also bent on rewatching Fullmetal Alchemist. Which he did.
- Game Night
We actually did do something when he was up this time, though. It was a lot of nothing, yeah, but the EMP (Experience Music Project) was doing this Game Night thing to launch a new exhibit which we went to. Old games like Tetris, Pitfall, Super Mario Bros. 3, etc. were up on a big screen open for people to play on. It was neat, but also a little bit of a letdown. I'm glad I got to take my brother, though :]

- Decided to get healthy
You should already know these posts are bound to get personal, but here's your warning just for the record.
I don't generally talk about this at all (let alone to the internet) so it's a little scary. I'm underweight. Okay, I know a lot of you are cursing me right now, but I'm not saying it to be that way. It's actually a problem. I finally realized I needed to do something about it when I got lightheaded and couldn't really breathe at work a week ago or so. So you know, I don't intentionally not eat or anything like that, I just don't make good food choices and sometimes just forget to eat. So, I'm working on it.

Some Current Favorites:
I started watching them a while ago, but got distracted by other things and didn't make it past the 25th episode or something like that. This month I just put it on again one day and proceeded to watch the rest immediately. You should definitely watch it if you haven't since it's fantastic. By the way, I've never read P&P and don't plan to. I said it.

- So Delicious coffee creamer
I have a weird stomach. Sometimes it doesn't get along well with milk and it never gets along with too much coffee. So, I figured it couldn't hurt to at least take the dairy out of the equation and I'm not sure I'll go back. It is delicious (yes, like the name ;])

- Owl socks
I <3 these socks.

Song: Well, I don't just have one this month soooo. Skinny Love by Bon Iver perfored by Birdy, Red Hands by Walk off the Earth, Gang of Rhythm by Walk off the Earth, Little Talks by of Monsters and Men, Angel Beats theme (the videos for the Walk off the Earth songs are good so you should look them up :])

Show: OMG ANGEL BEATS WATCH NOW GO. Ahem, and I've been watcing the 3rd season of My Little Pony Friendship is Magic
(I was going to use the opening scene, but this one is one of my favorites and I couldn't resist)

Movie: Warm Bodies. Not that much like the book, but really good in it's own right. Also, Nicholas Hoult.
Source
Book: Skylark by Meagan Spooner, The Way We Fall by Megan Crewe, and Pivot Point by Kasie West

There's something you should know.

I'm a Whovian.
Source

Source
Okay, most of you probably already knew this, but I decided it was time to write up a post and make it official. Plus, I figure fangrling is a pretty good way to share more me. Warning: This post is going to get a little crazy.

Early last year I caved to peer pressure and decided to start Doctor Who on a whim (well, I guess if we're going into specifics then it was my husband's whim.) I get to take most of the credit, though since I stuck with it after the first episode (which, let's face it, isn't all that great) and he didn't.

Souce
So, I watched the second episode not expecting too much, but by the end of season one I was completely obsessed. Guys, this show has ALL THE FEELS. I can't even count how many times I just sat on the couch doing the ugly cry. Sometimes I got all ragey and threw things (non-breakable things.) And I loved it. I felt like the characters were my best friends. Is that weird? If so, I don't care.

This show, my friends, has everything. Drama, aliens, spaceship that's bigger on the inside, time travel, great storylines, hilariousness, and...I could really go on all day.

Source
My husband started watching it a couple months ago (finally!) and I've been rewatching whenever I can. And let me tell you, it's just as emotional the second time around. Jacob (my husband) is always laughing at me because I end up crying 5 minutes before the sad thing even happens.

I know this post is pretty terrible, but the fangirl feelings were just building up inside me and I had to get them out. And I feel pretty good about it (I'd feel even better if I managed to convert someone ;])

Source
Let's just end this with some favorites -

Doctor: I was a total Ten fangirl, buuut if pressed I'd have to say Eleven is my favorite.
Companion: Rory. Rory forever <3
Villain: The Silence (I know a lot of people like the Weeping Angels, but I can never forgive them for what they did in Manhattan)
Christmas Special: The Doctor, the Widow, and the Wordrobe
Companion Send-Off: Rose (because I just can't with the Ponds. Don't even talk about it.)

February 20, 2013

Chuck Taylor joins the family!

Remember how last month I said I'd be getting a cat? Well, if you follow me on Twitter then you've probably seen pictures and know that happened about two weeks ago. I wanted to post about it sooner, I really did, but I also wanted to make a video to show you guys, and, well, it really wasn't working. I'm the type of person who has to get one thing done before moving on so this video has been a road bock in front of my blog and other various real life things.

So today I decided screw it, I'm posting the crappy video anyway. And when I say crappy, I really, really mean it. There's parts where it just pauses for 30 seconds or more and other parts where the music inexplicably stops working while the video goes on its merry way. So, yeah, it's pretty bad. BUT, I shan't let it stand in my way any longer, so here it is:

On February 7th Jacob (my husband for those confused) and I were down visiting family and on a quest to get a cat. We visited a local no-kill animal shelter and were overwhelmed by all the cute kitties. There was one that kept trying to attack my face, but in a cute way. But there was one little guy who nuzzled my hand and licked my fingers every time I stuck my hand by the cage and it was love. So, Chuck Taylor came home with us (the name is a thing between Jacob and I from way back when we first started dating.)

While he's still the loving cat I saw at the shelter, he definitely has a crazy side he was hiding. He likes to lick people and things. A lot. Basically, if it's within reach he'll lick it. So sometimes that means he's trying to scrape off all the skin from my arm or under my chin. Pugsy doesn't escape the licking either. In fact, Chuck is rather fond of grooming her. He also seems to think her tail is a fun toy...
He also does this thing where he's all "look at me, I'm so cute and you want to pet me" and as soon as your arm is close enough he grabs on with all four paws and commences biting or possibly licking, if he's feeling kind.

And pictures! (At least there's nothing wrong with these :P)
From top left to right:
1) He kept sitting in my mother-in-law's chair. She hates cats.
2) Sleeping folded in half.
3) He decided he really liked my Disney Hyperion bag.
4) Completely stretched out and sleeping. I wear he takes up more room than Pugsy sometimes!
5) Hugging Pugsy. This was his first night at home and she was certainly not impressed and did not share the hug love.
6) This is how I woke up after his first night in bed: Pugsy peeking out at my side and Chuck lounging in my legs.
7) His very first picture :]

January Update: Books, books, books, and cute Pugsy

One of my resolutions this year was to start putting more of myself in my blog so I thought a good start would be monthly updates. They'll mostly be about whatever happened to me during the month worth noting (and some not :P) plus my newest favorites books and otherwise. Jaime at The Perpetual Page-Turner inspired me to do these with her awesome Monthly Rewind posts.

The month as described by Doctor Who:
That would be me and the 24th, a.k.a my last day at Unnamed Theater Company a.k.a the day before ALA.

Some Happenings:
>Did "Christmas" with my husband's family. December was so crazy we weren't able to get together until the beginning of January, but it was worth the wait. My awesome mother-in-law got me some books that I squeed over, among other things.

>I attended my first book conference. I know ALA Midwinter is smaller and more low-key than others, but I really enjoyed being able to talk with some of the publishers (Little Brown and Macmillan are awesome) and the crowds were still a little itnense for me. I also got to spend time with all the lovely Seattle bloggers which was fantastic :] I could post book haul pictures and whatnot, but I think these are better:

>Finished my Unnamed Theater Company job. Guys, I swear it was sucking out my soul. Give me a nice, cozy little bookstore and I'll happily work away. Just...don't make me go back.

>Got a new haircut. It's kind of weird having so much of my hair gone since it's been long for a few years now. I like it, though :]

January wasn't really an eventful month, but I'm a-okay with that.

Some Current Favorites:

>Hansen's Soda. Guys, this stuff is clean and delicious. It's exactly what it says it is and that's that. The Mandarin Lime I had the other day was clear instead of bright orange! Seriously, it's all the soda with less guilt (I mean, it is still sugary :P) The Pomegranate flavor only has 5 ingredients (the others might as well, but this one is currently in front of my face so I can say for sure.)

>My tiny giraffe necklace. It was my first Etsy purchase and it is awesome. I got quite a few compliments on it at ALA :] Shop I got it from.

>Sweaters. I mean, I've always kind of been obsessed with sweaters, but it's gotten so much worse this past month. I practically live in them and whenever I go to Forever 21 I have to resist the urge to buy ALL OF THE sweaters. And there are a lot.

Doctor & TARDIS <3
Source
>My husband decided to start watching Doctor Who so I'm having fun rewatching with him and seeing him experience it all for the first time.

>Audiobooks. Okay, I've only finished the first disk of the first Percy Jackson book, but I'm really liking it. I don't really know that I have the attention span for something I haven't read before, but it's definitely great for rereads!

>Song:

>Show: Haven't watched much, so I'll stick with Doctor Who.
>Movie: Tie between Pitch Perfect and Life of Pie
>Book: Apparently I've only read 7 books this month and I loved 4 of them :P 1) Splintered by A.G. Howard, 2) The Madman's Daughter by Megan Shepherd, 3) Drama by Raina Telgemeir, and 4) Will Grayson, Will Grayson by John Green and David Levithan

Looking to February:

>The husband and I finally decided to get a cat and we're planning to adopt one when we go down to visit family :D
>Also, I'm getting new glasses which means I'll be able to see things again. Woo!

Pugsy of the Month:

January 4, 2013

Pugsy says sorry (and so do I)

I bring you a cute pic of Pugsy as a peace offering
I know, I know. I've been saying I'm coming back since October, basically. This time I mean it, though, but things are going to be a little different around here. First, I just want to talk about some of the major stuff that's happened to me in the past year. And just to warn you, things are going to get a little personal, so if you want to skip over this post go right ahead :]

- I finally got a permanent doctor and medication regime to hep me with my depression.
#1
- Around April I finally got my first job (yes, I'm a sad excuse for an adult) but it was only about 10 hours a week so I still had plenty of free time.
- Went to my first author events ever (Kimberly Derting and Gretchen McNeil/Daniel Marks.)
- Turned 20
- Chopped off the hair I'd been growing out for two years (and will probably go shorter again soon.)
- Had the biggest, longest blog funk ever.

- Turned this (#1) into this (#2)
- Discovered John and Hank Green (1 month after they were here on tour, sadly) You should watch the Vlogbrother videos if you don't know what I'm talking about.
- Hosted family Thanksgiving with both his and mine (and still managed to make way too much food.)
- Finally became a full-fledged Whovian. I mean, where was this show all my life?!
- Got a seasonal job at a theater chain which I'm currently finishing (no. Just no.) This is happening until the 24th and then I have ALA, so don't be surprised if it's still quieter than normal until February.
Portland sign.
- Celebrated our anniversary in Portland, OR.
- Celebrated 4 different Christmases (well, the 4th is tomorrow, but you know.) And in case you're wondering: my husband and I, my family, his parents, and his extended family.

So that was 2012.
Now it's time to move on to 2013.

Resolutions of sort both bookish and otherwise:

- Turn Have Your Cake and Read It Too into a bi-weekly feature since it's just a little too much for once a week. Maybe this way I can actually test the recipes out as well :] Also, I just want to give a big thank you to Rachel at Read.Write.Ramble who has enthusiastically commented on all of them and made me want to continue with it :]

- I don't do IMMs anymore because I know how jealous I get when I see other people's  so I don't want to do that to someone else. I'd still like to feature books in other ways than reviews, though.   So, I've decided to start making mini TBR vlogs. Probably monthly, but maybe bi-weekly. This will be a challenge since I don't plan my book schedule. I always just go to the shelf and pick whatever. I probably won't follow it to a T, but I'll try to keep close to it.
- I want to put a little more ME in my blog. Right now it feels like I'm just the faceless person who runs this blog and I want it to be more than that. I love the blogs and bloggers who tend to share more about their personal lives. It makes it easier to relate. And to show you I mean business, here's a picture of me showing off my love for Yoshi that I generally wouldn't show the public ;P (#3)
- I want to figure out how to make my pictures and such look prettier. I'm not a photographer nor do I aspire to be, but I would like them to look a little less bland. Are there programs that are free (or cheap) and easy to use? Leave me suggestions in the comments :]
It's really just better if you watch it :P
- And on that same note, I'd like to take a page out of VeganYANerds and PageTurner Jamie's books and start taking more of my own pictures, especially when it comes to book images (like the ones I put up with reviews)
- I'd like to start making more vlogs. I finally have a computer with a webcam, so it'll be easier. I think it'll help with making things more ME around here, but I think it might also help me come out of my safe little box some more as well.
Come on over, I promise we don't bite.
- Stop scheduling so much. Don't get me wrong, scheduling is definitely good, but I don't want to go about scheduling entire weeks of posts because I don't want to have a post every day anymore. I feel like when I try to fill all the days I just end up with loads of filler and boring stuff plus it stresses me out. For now, all that's concrete is three reviews a week and probably Cover Lovers and we'll see where it goes from there!
- Stop making everything a feature. Seriously, every time I get an idea I'm all "this could be a feature then my blog would be unique then everyone would love me!" or something like that. You know what happens after that? I get bored or discouraged and I end up only posting once or twice. This year I want to be a little more like Lisa is Busy Nerding and just post something if I find it interesting, no strings attached.
- Get a new design. I love the purple, green, and stars, but it's time for a new look. I want a really simple but pretty design so if you know anyone who does designs you should let me know about them in the comments. I was thinking Imagination Designs, but she's not taking any requests at the moment and I'm always open to suggestions :D
- Get into the community more. I've been in the blogging world for over a year and a half now and yet I still feel like an outsider. This year I want to do something about that starting with ALA at the end of the month. Also, use that Twitter thing I seem to have forgotten about. Any tips for a new ALA goer?
- Reread one book a month.

Isn't he the cutest?
-Become a better vegetarian. I've been a vegetarian for about 3 years now and I haven't cheated or anything like that, but I don't exactly eat good foods all the time. This year I actually want to make more meals that are good for me (that way I can still eat some of the junky stuff and not feel so bad ;P)
- Do yoga (grumble grumble). This is all the exercise you're going to get out of me. Yes, I walk most places in the city, but I know that doesn't entirely count. I kind of hate exercise, though, so yoga it is. Also, I'm pretty sure my husband will drag me to a class if he has to.
This is why even a book club is hard for me.

- Join a book club. Guys, I've been in Seattle a year now and I've met exactly two people that I've actually sen more than once. This has to change because it's really lonely to be in a big city and not have any friends.
-Get another dog or a cat. This probably seems like a no-brainer that doesn't need to be written down, but I've been meaning to for the past year. Granted, my apartment technically won't let me have another dog, but there might be a way around that. We'll see. And if a dog really isn't possible then I really need to just suck it up and pay the extraordinarily high cat deposit.
-Don't read (or do other things) just because I feel I have to. I spent a lot of last year going "I think I want to start this show or maybe that game" but then I'd always just think about the pile of books that need to be reviewed/returned to the library and do that or absolutely nothing instead.
I have this problem with one dog. Wonder what
another animal would mean...

- Get my poor doggy more exercise. Now, I may hate exercise, but she really needs it. Even if it's just a walk around the block once a day, that would be more than she's getting now.
-Take more pictures. I'm pretty sure my husband and I only have about 5 pictures from the past year and most were taken in December as a last ditch effort.
- Get. A. Job. Preferably, not one that I hate with a passion like my current job. Hopefully at a pet or bookstore.

16. Do you ever dog-ear books?
Big, fat, negative no. Erm, I guess a negative no is a yes...so, just no :P

17. Do you ever write in the margins of your books?
Nope. I could never even bring myself to write in my college textbooks.

18. Not even with text books?
Hah. I totally answered the above question before looking down.

19. What is your favourite language to read in?
Um, English :P
The only other language I've even tried to learn was French and let's just say that didn't go too well.

20. What makes you love a book?
A good plot. I love characters, but the plot is what usually sells me.
